“But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.” Romans 15:25-27

The Call and Joy of Giving to Israel

Paul tells us in Romans 15:25-27  “But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.” Paul is speaking to the church giving an example that we as believers are debtors to the Jewish believers because we have been partakers of their spiritual things, so it is our duty to minister to them in material things.

SSM believes it is the duty of every believing body to support materially the saints in Jerusalem. If we as the body of Christ gave as this verse says, there would be no lack or poor in Israel. We have seen the struggle of the believing body financially. It is not only our duty, but it is also our privilege and joy to give and pray. This is so important to our Lord that He judges the nations based on how they care for His people, if they scatter them or for dividing the land. Joel 3:1&2, Matt. 25:31-46 (“brothers” in the Matthew passage is referring to the Jews)
